Welcome to the Vegetarian Society of
East Tennessee's website! We look forward to posting
information and resources here that will not only be helpful
to you,
but will also provide a place for us to share a sense of
community. Please come back often for updates and new
events added to
our events and calendar page.
The Society was founded in 1980 as a
non-profit, educational organization dedicated to promoting
vegetarianism in Knoxville and the region. Our
goal is to provide information about the many positive aspects
of vegetarianism, including those of health, nutrition,
animal welfare, the alleviation of world hunger, and the
preservation of a natural environment.
There are currently about 150 members, not all vegetarians!
We welcome anyone seeking a healthier and more compassionate
lifestyle.
The Society is open to vegetarians and non-vegetarians
who are interested in learning how to reduce their meat consumption.
Within our organization there are people with varied dietary
beliefs, from the prospective vegetarians to the vegans.
Anyone can be a member. Call or visit and find out about
us!
